What's Your Relationship With Money?
Do you remember the story in Greek mythology about King Midas? He had a gift where everything he touched turned into gold. This is where the term “Midas Touch” comes from. I have noticed that there are people who, although they cannot literally turn things into gold with their touch, have the ability to turn any venture into a success, and attract money like honey attracts bees.
What is the difference between someone who attracts money and someone who cannot seem to get a break no matter how hard they try? I believe that the difference is in the mindset of the individual. There is a mindset that all individuals who have achieved lasting success have learned, and it is a way of thinking that has become as natural as breathing. A large part of this mindset involves a person’s individual beliefs, thought patterns, and feelings about money.
Keep in mind, whether right or wrong we developed our beliefs about money from how we were raised. You may believe more money more problems, and even people with a lot of money are jerks. Or you might be saying to yourself money is a tool that I can use to help others, also we should all pass down and inheritance to further our generational wealth. Which ever side of the fence you land on, that way of thinking was created and cultivated unconsciously as you grew. Now we're addressing it because you want different or better results!
I want to invite you to take a minute and consider whether you are attracting or repelling money in your life. Do you have all the money you need, or do you struggle month after month to pay all the bills that show up?
Take some time right now to consider your response to these questions:
Based on your responses, you may benefit from implementing some exercises to help you move through your blocks and change your core beliefs about money. Here are my top suggestions for attracting money:
Read! Choose a book about the topic of money that, by the title, suggests it will help with your particular blocks. There are so many great books out there and there are really no excuses for why you do not choose to read something that fuels your mind every day. A few of my favorites have been “The Richest Man in Babylon”, “Think and Grow Rich”, and “Rich Dad, Poor Dad”.
Use affirmations. Some people see this as positive thinking garbage that has no actual impact in the real world. I want you to think about it like this. Our minds are the most powerful computers on the planet. By age 21 it has recorded more information than 100 Encyclopedias. So the purpose of affirmations is to start the reprogramming process. I love affirmations for their ability to refocus your mind on what you want to attract into your life. The mind is so fascinating! Our thoughts really do determine what shows up in our life. It isn’t some mysterious power of the universe, it is really just a matter of how we train our minds to think so that we can recognize the opportunities that show up to bring us the results we want.
I interviewed 3 Fortune 500 CEOs, 1 Professional Tennis player, 2 Best selling authors, 1 Pro Football player and 2 Olympic Athletes and here are some of their affirmations:
“Money Flows to me and my family.”
“I attract powerful and influential people.”
“I deserve to win at everything I put my effort towards.”
“I commit to my commitments.”
“I finish what I start.”
“I was born at this time in the world to make a difference.”
“Everyone that enters my presence will leave feeling better about themselves.”
“All of my dreams, goals and desires are fully funded.”
“I will be a very generous millionaire.”
I also like affirmations in the form of a question because our minds are so good at looking for an answer when asked a question. You can start with these affirmations and create your own as you go.
“Why is it so easy for me to make money?”
“Why am I so good at managing my money?”
“Why are influential people attracted to me?”
Journal. Journaling is a powerful way to explore our thoughts and beliefs and get them out where we can see them. Awareness of our thoughts is the first step. You can spend time writing about your current beliefs and how you think you developed them, as well as writing possible solutions and ways of thinking that will help you shift. I have also found that when my mind is restless at night, writing out my thoughts and ideas helps me to move past them.
Go to work!!!!! Take action and you will develop confidence in your ability to make money. Keep an eye (or ear) on your thoughts so you can notice whenever a negative pattern is creeping in and you can do something to change it right away. The more you practice, the better you will get and the more money will flow to you.

- What is my core belief about money? Do I believe it is evil or good?
- What is my core belief about my own worth? Do I deserve to have money?
- What is my core belief about the effort required to have money? Do I believe it is hard to make money, or do I believe that there is always enough?
